Benchmark № 001 — volunteers

Help benchmark the phone-validation industry.

We're measuring four commercial validation APIs against known ground truth — the services that claim "99% accuracy" without publishing a dataset. Tell us your carrier and line type so we can check what those services claim about real numbers. We never call or text your number. It's never published. ~3 minutes.

1 of 4 Quick eligibility check

Are you in the United States or Canada?

If no → ineligible. The benchmark covers North American numbers only.

Is this a personal phone you control — not a work phone managed by your employer?

Employer-managed lines can't be consented to by the user.

Is it a mobile you carry, or a phone at a fixed address (home or office)?

Can you provide a screenshot from your carrier's app or a recent bill showing the carrier name?

If no → ineligible. Without it there is no ground truth.

2 of 4 Consent

Who is collecting this: Quantum Digital Plus Pty Ltd, trading as Boundstone (boundstone.io). Contact: hello@boundstone.io.

What we will do with your phone number: run it through four commercial phone-validation APIs — 1Lookup, Trestle, Twilio Lookup, and NumVerify — and record what each service claims about it (whether it's valid, its line type, its carrier, and possibly the name their records associate with it). We will never call or text your number. The APIs are only asked what they believe about it.

What we store: your number, the carrier and line type you attest to (including your attestation screenshot, redacted to carrier name + line type), and the four vendors' responses. Stored privately.

What gets published: never your number and never any name. The public benchmark shows only an anonymous row ID and whether each vendor's claim matched your attestation. Your attestation screenshot is never published.

Why: to measure and publicly report the accuracy of these validation services. The methodology is frozen and public at boundstone.io/methodology.

Legal basis (if you are in the EU/UK): your explicit consent, freely given and specific to this use.

Retention and withdrawal: we keep your row for the benchmark series (quarterly re-runs) unless you withdraw. Withdraw any time by emailing hello@boundstone.io — your row is deleted from the private dataset and excluded from all future runs.

Auditor access: a neutral third party may review the full private dataset under a confidentiality agreement to verify our results.

Voluntariness: participation is voluntary. Any incentive offered (e.g. via a research panel) is stated at recruitment and doesn't depend on what the vendors return about your number.

3 of 4 Your number
4 of 4 Attestation screenshot

It must show

  • the carrier name
  • the number, or at minimum its last four digits
  • ideally the plan/line-type label

Please redact before sending

  • home address
  • account number
  • billing amounts and payment details
  • any other phone numbers on the account

Showing your own number is not additional exposure — we already hold it, and it's what ties the attestation to your row. The screenshot is stored privately and never published.
